Theories and Psychics
These are some theories connected with Randy's disappearance.
- Randy was seen at the Maple’s party east of Desoto, Kansas, on the night he disappeared, April 15-16, 1988. Where was this party? Who hosted it? What happened at this party?
- A man named Smith related information from a twelve-year-old girl who had gone with older friends to a gathering. A large bonfire [6 feet in diameter and surrounded by rocks] was made after the party in Linwood. Randy was taken from Linwood, to the bonfire by persons unknown. Once at the bonfire that was attended by 50-70 people, unknown persons stabbed and mutilated Randy. The body was then laid aside and two other males [who objected to the events] were also killed. The two other males attempted to stop the killing of Randy. One of the others killed was a “Danny,” unknown last name. The bodies were not taken away, but supposedly buried in the area. According to the young girl, she and a friend from Basehor or Bonner Springs were there, as well as some other older friends. Mr. Smith went to the area the following day, and found two notes at different locations at the site described by the young girl. He also found a blanket that was partially burned, evidence of the gathering.
- Again, more on the same event, the Tonganoxie Police Department received a call from the young female subject who did not identify herself. She wanted to talk about Randy Leach. She told the Reporting Officer [RO] that she called to clear a friend’s name whom she thought was a suspect. His name was Smith. She advised RO that she and a friend heard about something going on at Stranger Creek. They drove out there on Leavenworth Road at the cliffs area. She told the RO that they walked through the woods. The trees were marked with ribbons to show the way. When they got to a clearing, they saw a lot of people, and one person who was tied up. She asked someone what was going on, and they said they were going to kill someone. She said she thought they were joking. She was there a short time and saw a subject stab the person tied up twice. She said then they cut off his hands. At that time she left the area. She said she called to clear Smith’s name because he was not there at the time of this incident. After doing some checking [via operator], it was found that the subject called from the New Town Square.
- Detective Lee Orr from the Kansas City Police Department talked to a teenager from Desoto, Kansas. He was at a party a week after Randy disappeared when he overheard a tall slender guy with red hair say something about Randy having been done away with by the guys in the hooded robes. The young man said that it sounded like Randy’s body was around where Cedar Creek goes into the Kaw River in Desoto. A friend of his from Shawnee, Kansas said that the party took place in an open field on top of Cambridge Point in Kansas City, Kansas. Both teenagers lead police to the site of the party in an isolated area on top of a hill overlooking Southwest Blvd. and I-35 near Greystone and Francis’s behind the K.C. Graphics building. There was evidence of frequent gatherings and evidence of fires having been lit at these gatherings.
- The Bonner Springs Police Department received a call from someone claiming that Randy was involved with some people over drugs. Randy supposedly owed quite a lot of money to these people and they wanted to make an example of him. Randy was supposed to be buried under an oak tree at an unknown location. The caller said that Randy would be “fertilizing that oak tree for a long time.”
- An informant in Bonner Springs told Lee Orr, a detective from the Kansas City Police Department who specialized in cult crime, that an associate was involved in Satan worship and the informant was one of the intended’s victims for some kind of sacrifice. She had escaped and called the police. Detective Orr stated that his informant had given him a book with information about a woman’s associates, and that she had also told him the people around Bonner Springs knew something about the Randy Leach case. Leach had been sacrificed, cut up, put in burlap bags and put in the river somewhere near Cedar Creek in Desoto, Kansas. Some of the people involved, according to Orr, were from Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, and Kansas City, Kansas. Orr said that some of the information he had developed involved Satanic worship, and some of the information Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Department developed indicated the same.
- A young man from Edwardsville, Kansas stated that the first part of July, he, two white males, a white female, early 20's, and a red headed girl (white female, early 20's) went to a cave [the Loring Drive, National Cold Storage, Inc. cave site, north of Desoto] about a 5–10 minute walk east of the Lenape Cemetery [also north of Desoto]. When they got to the cave, they went down a 2–3 foot hole partially obscured by a tree, then into the cave.
The young man stated that inside the cave was the body of a white male hanging from a rope that was attached to the ceiling of the cave. He stated that he could not tell who the white male was because it looked as though the face had been bashed in with a hammer. He said that when the face was pointed out to him, someone said, "See his face. How would you like to look like that? You’d have to have a closed casket, wouldn't you?"
The young man stated that when he was taken to the cave to view the body, one of the subjects he was with was pushing him towards the hanging body. He also stated that there was a 'bad odor' and that it was all through the cave.
He stated that when he was in the cave, he could hear a sound that sounded like running water as though there was a creek or stream running through the cave.
The caves had not been thoroughly searched, and now the site where the body has hanging has been bulldozed over.
When given a polygraph test, it was shown that the young man's accounts were truthful.
Psychics
A detective from the Leavenworth Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a person who said her name was Mary, and that she was a psychic in Derby and Wichita, Kansas. Mary advised that she had seen the Wichita paper and felt that Randy had left the party with two young men; and one had driven Randy's car while the other young man followed. Mary felt that both the car and the missing person are under water on the border of another state. The detective asked what she meant by this, and Mary said that he is not in Kansas. Mary advised the detective that Randy is across the line and she saw buffy tan hard dirt and then you look across the water and you sea a lot of trees. Mary said that there is something to do with a tan shirt and someone slipping Randy drugs. Mary said she has strong feelings about the two young men who know where Randy is. Mary said she has worked with Wichita Police and that her work could be checked out.
Mary advised that she wanted no publicity over this.
Ms. Rochelle Bockover of Kansas City, Missouri stated she had "visions" of two white men whom she believed knew about Randy Leach's disappearance. She requested that composites be drawn of them.
Ms. Bockover stated that in her visions, all she could see were the mens' faces, she couldn't see their bodies or any background. She stated that she felt the long-haired man was the one in charge. She also stated that the second man went along with what the long-haired man said. She said she thought both men were older than Randy, possibly in their mid-thirties.
